Grimsby Institute Animal Management Centre

Gardham Wold Landscapes completed the soft landscaping for the Animal Management Centre at Grimsby Institute.

The new building will not only help train the next generation of students interested in animal care, but also host an independent veterinary practice, making it a hub for education and animal welfare in the region.

The works included comprehensive soil preparation and turfing for the goat and sheep enclosures, as well as turfing and seeding for a dedicated dog walking area. Multi-stem trees were carefully planted and protected with specified wire mesh to ensure the safety and longevity of the trees in active animal environments. Mulched ground cover was also installed in the aviary and meerkat enclosures to provide natural, low-maintenance surfaces suitable for the animals.

Planting schemes were designed to enhance biodiversity and aesthetics throughout the site. This included wildflower meadows alongside ornamental and specimen shrubs with trees and structural hedging along the perimeter to provide cover, privacy, and natural boundaries. Artificial turf areas were installed to create durable, low-maintenance spaces suitable for both animals and visitors.

The completed landscaping provides a safe, functional, and visually appealing environment that complements the educational and animal management objectives of the centre, while promoting biodiversity and sustainable green spaces throughout the site.
